GE appliance repair

GE appliance repair covers refrigerators, ranges, wall ovens, washers, dryers, dishwashers and GE Profile and Cafe lines, including heating faults, cooling loss, ice maker problems and F series codes.

GE faults that bring us out

  • Oven not heating or drifting from the set temperature
  • Wall oven door locked after a self clean cycle
  • Refrigerator ice maker producing nothing
  • Washer stopping partway through a cycle
  • Dryer running with no heat
  • Range display showing an F code

Cooking appliances are the volume category

GE has a large installed base of ranges and wall ovens across tri-state homes, and cooking faults make up most GE service calls. Temperature drift is confirmed by measuring cavity temperature against the setting before any part is changed. Self clean lockouts are traced through the door latch motor and switch assembly, which is a distinct repair from a heating fault even though both appear as "oven not working".

Profile, Cafe and built-in lines

GE Profile and Cafe units are fitted into cabinetry with fixed wiring and tight clearance. Diagnosis works from the front through control, sensor and element testing so the unit is only pulled when rear access is genuinely required. Ice makers on GE built-in refrigerators are traced through the water valve, fill tube and module rather than replaced as an assembly.

Gas safety

Gas ranges, cooktops and gas dryers carry live gas supply lines, valves and igniters. Do not test, adjust or disconnect any gas component. If you smell gas, leave the area, do not operate switches, and contact your gas utility from outside the building. Gas work is carried out only by a qualified technician.
